“The Backpack Giveaway is a tradition we’ve been holding for several years in collaboration with local organizations within the community. We can provide backpacks for children of all ages in our community. Typically, we distribute between 5 to 6 hundred backpacks during the event. My aspiration is that this initiative fulfills a necessity within the community and alleviates some financial burden for parents and guardians as they prepare to send their children back to school,” stated MPD Chief of Police Sean Ladson during a Tuesday morning announcement.

Families with students from Colquitt County schools are cordially invited to partake in the drive-thru style distribution, as stated in a recent Facebook post by the City of Moultrie.
Each student will be presented with a backpack filled with essential supplies such as notebook paper (both wide and college-ruled), spiral notebooks, composition books, pens, pencils, highlighters, colored pencils, crayons, and erasers.
The statement also requested that parents ensure their school children are present in the vehicle during the distribution.
The MPD extended their gratitude to all contributors and donors, including Amerigroup.
